Dell 14 Touch Screen Laptop
Review of the ever so popular dell inspiron 14 in particular
looking at the inspiron 5410 intel's latest 11th generation core i5 processor
we also have 8 gigabytes of ddr4 ram on board a 512 gb solid state drive
intel's rockin integrated iris xc graphics we have the latest wi-fi and
bluetooth standards and additionally this is a 14 inch full hd display in
today's video like i said we're gonna find out if this laptop has what it takes
to find a place in your home or business or wherever you plan to use it let's
get started get a 65 part charging
adapter weighing at just 3.2 pounds this is relatively light laptop that's good
for all day carry around but don't let the light weight fully nto thinking this is a cheaply made laptop so dell has used
a nice mix of standard and premium materials starting off with the top side you
can see you actually have a nice cool to the touch metallic finish which
honestly i really like because it's textureless and that's my style also you
have the dell branding and the dead center and that's pretty much it io port
diversity on the inspiron 14 while not the most comprehensive is relatively
reasonable so you have the dc port itself for charging the laptop a full sized
hdmi port additionally you do have a usb 3.0 port transmission capabilities
built right in on the other side you have the good old headphone jack you also
have another usb 3.0 port and you actually have a micro sd card reader slot it
would have been nice to have a full size sd card reader but perhaps i'm being a
little nitpicky here in all fairness by the time you make your way to the
bottom of the laptop that's where every company starts running out of money for
premium materials which is quite alright so in the case of the inspiron 14
again you have a hard tpu finish which is nice and solid you also have these
two nice long linear vents for air intake to keep the laptop running cool and
if you look carefully you'll notice on either side you have two grilles this is
of course for the stereo speaker setup that you'll find on this laptop as soon
as you unfold this laptop the very first thing you're going to notice is the
generous amount of palm rest space you have given the fact this is only a small
form factor 14 inch laptop also the entire chassis over here is metallic as
well which again gives it a high quality feel but perhaps the thing you'll find
more intriguing is that super wide high quality track pad this thing is really
spacious but on top of that the quality really blew me away given the fact that
this is not a dell xps seriously so clicks feel super tactile you have a glass
surface finish and on top of that there's practically no imbalance no matter
which side of the trackpad you click on overall this is one of those few
laptops where i actually don't mind using the trackpad as opposed to just using
a mouse the keyboard is also a great experience so dell has definitely improved
a few things here for example the keycaps are now eight percent larger than the
previous iteration of the inspiron 14 which means you'll make less typos and
you'll have a more comfortable typing experience key travel is pretty
reasonable and you have a nice tactile feel of the keyboard itself i won't call
this keyboard the best in the market i think that goes to the ideapad series by
lenovo but it comes pretty darn close also you do have a two tier backlighting
system for the keyboard unfortunately there is no 10 keypad but that's
acceptable again given this is a 14 inch laptopit's also worth noting that the
power button on the top side also serves as a built-in fingerprint fantastic
keyboard moving on to the hinge quality again i'm really impressed by dell's
attention to detail so they've used a high quality two hinge system over here
which means you get very little wobble when the laptop is unfolded furthermore
you'll find that it's very durable and sturdy and should definitely last for the years to come now in the display fitting
department obviously this laptop won't have the sleekest looking fitting
especially when you compare to the high-end xps series but with that said you
still have a very thin chin relatively speaking super narrow bezels and you also have a pretty small forehead so it looks pretty
cool you'll also find the top sides where you have the 720p webcam with the two
microphones and it's a bit of a disappointment honestly because the webcam does
pretty poorly in low light and mid light settings as well and when you compare
to the competition which really isn't that much better this is definitely a
tier down if you watch my reviews you know how passionate and excited and happy i
literally get when i see a high quality display on a budget or mid-range laptop
and the dell inspiron 14 seriously just took my heart away so you start off
with a modest resolution of 1080p or full hd a standard refresh rate of 60 hertz and it is a 16x9 aspect
ratio pretty normal stuff so far where things get really exciting for this
display is the color accuracy at a hundred percent srgb color accuracy this
laptop looks vivid honestly if you are a creative user who does a lot of photo
editing video editing or color grading in general you will really appreciate
the quality of this display now one area where this laptop does fall short in terms of display
quality is the overall peak brightness which is just at 300 nits while this is
sufficient for most indoor uses you may find it to be a little bit on the
shorter side when you're using it outdoors or in a very brightly lit room
thankfully the screen is anti-glare when it comes to performance i'm a little excited
because this laptop is rocking the i5 11 300h processor which is one of the newest iterations of intel's 11th
generation processors so day-to-day tasks like web browsing watching some
youtube or doing word document crunching will feel like it's blazing fast as it
should i really enjoyed it because there
was a lot of lag or you know like falling behind the laptop definitely kept up
in the gaming department keeping in mind the inspiron 14 is not a gaming laptop
the iris xc chip does a fantastic job games like fortnite one well above a
healthy 60 plus fps at medium settings and other modern day games can also run
on low to medium settings well above the 30 fps mark again relatively good
performance for integrated graphics chip for those of you wondering how the new
dallas front 14 does in the thermals department well you'll be happy to know at
its absolute peak load you can hit a average surface temperature of just 42 degrees celsius and
this is again at its absolute peak this laptop cools down pretty fast and
you'll find a sustained temperature of around 30 degrees celsius when you're
doing moderate to high intensive workload activities and we're using it in low
settings you'll find that this laptop doesn't go above 22 degrees celsius on a
bad day with that being said the battery life department is a little bit of a
mixed bag review with this laptop so i found at a full charge 50 brightness
doing a little bit of web browsing using the speakers a little bit and mixing
around my activity with moderately intensive stuff i got approximately 8.5 to 9
hours of battery life which again isn't that impressive when compared to a lot
of the competition another area where the inspiron 14 takes it away is speaker quality as
imentioned earlier this is a stereo speaker setup and the sound quality is
pretty good so the volume gets fairly loud and i found that it remains pretty
crisp there's very little distortion even at higher volume levels have a quick
listen for yourself
So here's a summary guys priced at approximately 650 usd for
this specific configuration this laptop in my opinion honestly is a golden deal
if you know my reviews you know i'm really harsh on my laptop reviews and it's
very rare that i say a laptop has done a grand job at delivering in the price
range they're at the dallas baron has a fantastic build quality with a nice mix
of standard and premium materials all across the high quality trackpad and
keyboard experience definitely make it worthwhile and the super crisp and high
quality displayhonestly are a creative users paradise the performance while not
the absolute best is definitely one of the better ones and i found that the
amount of heat this laptop generates bis nominal compared to previous
iterations of the dell inspiron and generally speaking this is a productivity powerhouse now
a few things not of course is that because it's a 14 inch laptop you don't get
a 10 keypad also i found that the laptop has a reasonable variety of io port
but there could have been a little bit of more but perhaps the biggest
disappointment for this laptop aside rom its lackluster webcam has to be its
mediocre battery life if you wanted the 10 plus hour mark on the battery life
department you will not get this with this laptop in most situations so keep
that in mind but overall i can wholeheartedly recommend this laptop for you
guys .
